Malvern F. King, Jr.

Partner

Malvern F. King, Jr. Malvern King is a founding partner of Pulley Watson and former managing partner. He concentrates in the areas of corporate law, commercial transactions and litigation and commercial real estate. Recently, he was inducted into the North Carolina Bar Association General Practice Hall of Fame, one of the highest honors in the profession. Many of his clients have developed close business relationships with Mal, working with him over the years as their businesses prospered and their legal needs evolved. With his broad understanding of commercial law, he’s known as one of the preeminent business attorneys in Durham and surrounding counties.

What truly distinguishes Mal, however, is his concern and care for his clients, and his willingness to take the time to come to their homes, their businesses, or wherever they need him. Helping his clients achieve their goals – whether that means forming business entities, understanding zoning issues, conducting commercial real estate transactions or having the peace of mind that comes from working with experienced corporate legal counsel – drives him to offer a level of service that goes well beyond the ordinary.

Mal received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After graduation from law school, he served on active duty with the U.S. Naval Security Group and retired as a Captain in the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate Generals Corp as a reserve officer.

Active in the community, Mal is a charter member of the Southwest Durham Rotary Club and has worked hard to support its charities. He has also served as Chair of the General Practice Section and member of the Board of Governors of the North Carolina Bar Association, as well as Liaison to the Legal Assistants Division. He currently serves on the Legal Aid Development Committee of the Triangle, the YMCA Durham Advisory Board, the Durham Food Bank Advisory Board and the Durham Technical Community College Foundation Board.
