Auto Wrecks

Thousands of people are injured each year due to negligence. We handle a large number of these cases, so we can act as an effective advocate throughout the legal process.

Case Story 1

The Case:

A woman in her 60s was in a car accident, hit broadside in an intersection. The other driver was a felon driving a stolen car while being pursued by police. He was able to run away, never to be seen, while our client was left with permanent injuries to her back and neck. Previously active in her work with elderly people, she could no longer perform the same tasks our handle the same responsibilities.

The Results:

This case was unique in that the driver of the other car was uninsured and driving without permission. Pulley Watson turned to our client's insurance company to pursue a settlement, and was successful on her behalf. The settlement replaced lost income from her job, paid her medical bills, covered continued physical therapy, and provided a significant payment for her pain and suffering which persisted for a lengthy time period.

Case Story 2

The Case:

Carol was hit broadside in her car by a man – driving a company-owned truck on company time – who ran a red light. Police records contained eyewitness accounts of his fault, as well as his own admission of guilt on the scene. Later, however, he denied the charges.

The Investigation:

Pulley Watson had to dig deep to find clear evidence of company involvement. Our investigative expert unearthed the fact that a trailer being pulled by the truck was actually insured by the company. And despite the company's defense that the specific truck being driven was not for company use, our attorneys were able to link the truck and driver to the job – and therefore hold the company at fault.

The Results:

Through mediation, Pulley Watson was able to provide for Carol's back surgery, which eliminated her pain immediately. The settlement also paid all original medical bills and covered continued physical therapy, and allocated a significant sum for pain and suffering over the years it took to reach an agreement.

Case Story 3

The Case:

A single mother on her way to work was stopped in a construction zone where a worker was holding traffic. The compact car she was driving was rear-ended by a large sport utility vehicle, killing her instantly.

The Results:

The accident took place in the North Carolina mountains, where Pulley Watson mounted a successful case on behalf of the victim's family. The resulting verdict provided enough money to pay for her son to go to college as he had hoped to do, and help him get on his feet alone.

Case Story 4

The Case:

Anna was driving in her car when an improperly attached trailer separated from a truck in oncoming traffic. The tongue of the trailer spun around and went through Anna's car windshield, hitting her in the face and causing a brain injury. The trailer was being pulled by a landscaping company, and had been improperly loaded at a major home improvement store.

The Results:

Pulley Watson was able to recover a large settlement from both the owner of the trailer and the store that loaded, enough to pay for Anna's salary with raises for life. She is now able to volunteer at her local library, but unable to perform many tasks as before the accident.

Case Story 5

The Case:

Brad was driving on the interstate one evening, when he was rear-ended - twice - by a physician driving home from a party. After impact, the other driver crossed the median and ran into an embankment.

The Investigation:

Pulley Watson found that the doctor had been drinking alcohol at the party he attended, and were further able to learn that he was taking medication that had adverse effects when taken with alcohol.

The Results:

Pulley Watson sued on Brad's behalf for medical damages as well as punitive damages. We stayed with the case as it ultimately made its way to the North Carolina Court of Appeals, where judgments were made in Brad's favor.

Case Story 6

The Case:

Beth, a senior in college, was hit head on by a drunk driver. She was left in a body cast and suffering from a closed-head brain injury.

The Results:

The money awarded in this case paid for necessary medical attention. Beth was then able to finish school, and is an attorney herself.

Case Story 7

The Case:

A minister and his wife, John and Patty, were returning home from visiting a shut-in member of their church. The driver of another car crossed the center lane and hit them head on at a high speed. Both suffered significant physical and psychological injuries.

The Investigation:

Faced with the fact that the driver at fault had limited insurance on his vehicle, our attorneys took this case to the North Carolina Court of Appeals, seeking coverage from the couples' own insurance company.

The Results:

Our attorneys were able to find and gain access to additional coverage for the Kings – resulting in a significant settlement to compensate for the damages, which they would not have received otherwise.
