There's no question I felt powerless. I mean, it was like everything I knew prior to that time had been
taken away. I felt like my legs had been chopped out from underneath me and I didn't know what to do for me
and for my three kids. It took apart everything that we knew. All of a sudden I'm left without a wife, my best
friend, and the kids were left without their mom. The girls were two years old, almost three, when that
happened. Our son was, I believe, five when everything happened. They were very young and for all of us it was
a big shock, but he made us feel like there was hope out there.
